A. Update device driver for Raid controllers that were not supported by build-in driver
========================================================================================

    1. Extract unRAIDServer-6.7.x-x86_64.zip to an USB flash drive with volume label 'UNRAID'.
    2. Extract arcmsr-1.50.0X.05-20210429-unRAID-6.7.x.zip to UNRAID USB flash drive /.
    3. Right-click on the file make_bootable and select Run as administrator.
The syslinux utility will write the Master Boot Record and create a small hidden
file named ldlinux.sys on the Flash device, making it bootable.
    4. Boot from unRAID USB flash drive.
    5. After boot up, login as root. type following commands to update device driver.

       # rmmod arcmsr
       # insmod /boot/arcmsr.ko.xz

    6. To make new arcmsr.ko.xz driver take effect for next boot, type following command to rebuild bzmodules.

       # /boot/buildbzmod
       # reboot

B. Procedure to support Areca thunderbolt devices
==================================================

    0. Extract arcmsr-1.50.0X.05-20210429-unRAID-6.7.0.zip to UNRAID USB flash drive / directory.

    1. If you have ever been done the following command, then skip to step 2.

       # /boot/buildbzmod
       # reboot

    2. Connecting the port of PC thunderbolt and port of Areca thunderbolt system.

    3. Find the thunderbolt deivce's location.

       # ls /sys/bus/thunderbolt/devices/
       0-0 0-3 domain0
(On your system, list could be: 0-0 0-1 domain0. If so, replace 0-3 by 0-1 in below)

       # cat /sys/bus/thunderbolt/devices/0-3/vendor_name
       areca

       # cat /sys/bus/thunderbolt/devices/0-3/device_name
       ARC8050-T3(or ARC8050-T2)

    4. Give an authorised permission to thunderbolt devices
       # echo 1 > /sys/bus/thunderbolt/devices/0-3/authorised

    5. Find pci address of intel thunderbolt system peripheral
       # lspci | grep 'System peripheral'
       example:
0a:00.0 System peripheral: Intel Corporation DSL5520 Thunderbolt 2 NHI [Falcon Ridge 4C 2013]

    6. Remove this system peripheral device
       # ls /sys/bus/pci/devices
The pci address of this system peripheral should be like as: 0000:0a:00.0
       # echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000\:0a\:00.0/remove

    7. Rescan the pci device to find the first PCI bridge of intel thunderbolt bridge after the 'System peripheral'
       # echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/rescan
       # lspci
       example:
       ...
0a:00.0 System peripheral: Intel Corporation DSL5520 Thunderbolt 2 NHI [Falcon Ridge 4C 2013]
  ---> 3f:00.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation DSL5520 Thunderbolt 2 Bridge [Falcon Ridge 4C 2013]
40:03.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation DSL5520 Thunderbolt 2 Bridge [Falcon Ridge 4C 2013]
       ...

    8. Remove the first PCI bridge device after the 'System peripheral'
       # echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000\:3f\:00.0/remove

    9. Rescan the pci device again to get Areca thunderbolt devices show up.
       # echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/rescan
       # lspci
       example:
       ...
0a:00.0 System peripheral: Intel Corporation DSL5520 Thunderbolt 2 NHI [Falcon Ridge 4C 2013]
3f:00.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation DSL5520 Thunderbolt 2 Bridge [Falcon Ridge 4C 2013]
40:03.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation DSL5520 Thunderbolt 2 Bridge [Falcon Ridge 4C 2013]
       ...
---> 41:00.0 RAID Bus Controller: Arec Technology Corp. ARC-188x Series PCIe 2.0/3.0 to SAS/SATA 6/12Gb RAID Controller

Now detecting devices start, just a moment you will can access thunderbolt devices.
